Obituary

House: Scott Elliott “Housy” August 16, 1968 - February 17, 2021

Passed away peacefully in his sleep at Sakura House in Woodstock after a very brave battle with glioblastoma.

Scott will be lovingly remembered always by his wife Jayne and was "the best Dad ever" to Sarah and Kaitlyn. Dear son of Larry and Gail House of Bright and much loved brother of Tom (Jenifer) House and uncle to his nephews Ramsay and Nolan.

Scott was an avid sports fan and could recite player and game stats from most major league teams off the top of his head. He loved his sports pools and was always up for a trip to Toronto to see a Jays game with his Dad and friend Brad or a UFC match with his buddy Brandon.

Scott grew up in Bright/Plattsville and spent most weekends on Hendy’s pond for friendly games of pond hockey with his brother, the Glendinning boys and many other Legends of the Pond.

Scott will be sadly missed by his Aunt Pat and Uncle Ted (deceased), Aunt Joan and Uncle Bob and Aunt Marilyn and Joel as well as many cousins, friends, co workers and his furry friend Pepper.

Housy will be remembered by his many Chesterfield Chestnut teammates where he will be remembered as a player, statistician and Coach, having won many Championships and was honoured as Coach of the Year many times.

The family would like to extend many thanks to the Juravinski Cancer Center, Doctors Hal Hirte, Dr. Reddy, Dr Kachur and their extensive team of professionals at the Hamilton Health Sciences network for giving us extra time with Scott and to Sakura House in Woodstock for providing compassionate care for Scott when that time came to an end.

A private family viewing was entrusted to the Glendinning Funeral Home, Plattsville. Interment will take place later in the Chesterfield Cemetery. A celebration of Housy’s life will take place later hopefully this summer when we can all be together again.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to either the Juravinski Cancer Center for brain cancer research or to Sakura House and would be appreciated by Scott's family. Personal condolences can be posted at www.gffh.ca

Scott and Jayne were basically second parents to me growing up. I am shocked and devastated that he is gone so soon. He was a hilarious guy and always made me laugh growing up. I loved talking to him about Star Wars. I will always remember sleeping over with Sarah for the first time and calling him Mr. House when meeting him (which of course was too formal for Scott). I'll always remember how great of a guy he was and how much he impacted my life growing up. I love you Sarah, Jayne, and Kaitlyn, and I'm thinking about you often.

Jayne we are so sorry for your loss. You have been on our minds and we want you to know that we are thinking of you and your kids at this time. I know we only knew you and Scott for a short time but he made and left an impression on us. He was such a kind person and one could clearly see and feel nthe love that he and you shared.

To Scott's immediate family, Larry and Gail, and Tom:

My sincerest sympathy is extended to all of you, inclusive of Scott's extended family members.

It is difficult to reconcile how someone so young can be taken by such a tragic disease. The sense of loss you all must feel will be more than words could express.

Given I was Scott's (and Tom's) babysitter for many years, I have lots of fond memories of Scott all involving around a sense of play, and a willingness to laugh and have fun--- whether that be a serious game of hockey in the basement, playing hide and seek, or playing tag where I had not one, but two energetic boys chasing me.

Take time to remember and find comfort, at this difficult time, from all the memories of time shared together.

Jayne, Sarah, Kaitlyn,
Fabian and I are very sorry for your tremendous loss. Scott and I worked together at Lowe’s. He always had a great big genuine grin and we had many great conversations. Fabian and Scott formed a “small club” of Jets fans. He always looked for Scott in his visits to Lowe’s to laugh about the Jets. Scott, we know you’re listening and reading this, so we want you to know that a high school team could beat the Jets! Both mostly we want to thank you for shining your light in our lives. You’ll be dearly missed and never forgotten buddy. ❤️ Fabian & Lisa Pustaai
