Obituary for Vivian Marguerite ARMSTRONG (Cronmiller)

ARMSTRONG, Vivian M.

Age 97, passed away on Dec 7, 2022. After the death of her husband, she lived independently on their farm outside of Port Rowan. When stricken with dementia she moved in with her daughter Carolyn in Toronto, where she has resided for the past three years. On a visit to the farm in November she suffered a fall and fractured her hip. This required surgery and while recovering in the hospital she contracted covid and succumbed to all of the trauma.

Vivian was born Vivian Marguerite Cronmiller on August 18, 1925 to Muriel and William Cronmiller. She was married for 62 years to Edmund Armstrong and had six children. Vivian was predeceased by her husband, Edmund, her son, Ronald, son-in-law John Moras, and her three siblings, Chuck, Max and Marilyn. She is survived by her children Carolyn Moras, Betty Forse, Edna Leech, Michael Armstrong and Sharon Armstrong, her twelve grandchildren, her sixteen great-grandchildren and sons-in-law Kenneth Forse and Robert Leech and daughters-in-law Laura Armstrong and Ann Armstrong.

In addition to working on the farm, she was a volunteer with the Norfolk General Hospital, a member of the Women's Institute and attended the Community Church in Port Rowan. Her work ethic, ability to laugh, and openness to new experiences ranging from eating haggis at Hogmanay (Scottish New Years Eve) to climbing the steps to the old Fort in Cartagena, Columbia while in her eighties, will be sorely missed along with her pies, butter tarts, peppermint patties,...

Relatives and friends will be received in the Jeffrey W. Glendinning Funeral Home, 36 Front St. Port Rowan on Monday December 12, 2022 from 6-8pm and Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 12-12:45pm followed by the service in the Clark Chapel at 1:00pm. Interment to follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Walsingham.
