Obituary for Shirley Elaine ZEHR (Zehr)

ZEHR: Shirley Elaine – of Woodstock passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, November 15th, 2021 at the University Hospital, London, in her 93rd year. Five weeks after her beloved husband passed away in their shared hospital room.

She married Carl on September 21, 1957. They farmed together at Cassel until 1978 when they semi-retired to Innerkip before moving onto Woodstock. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and lifelong member of Cassel Mennonite Church. A true storybook grandmother. She enjoyed making the grand kids their favorite meal when they would come for dinner. Often in the kitchen baking cookies and pies, or at the quilting frame with her sisters and cousins.

Dear mother of Darrel of Toronto, Mary Lynn (Steve) Redmond of Lucan, Terry (Kim) of Thorndale, and Brad (Ang) of Woodstock. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Stephanie, Luke, Jarrett (Meghan), Taylor, Alyssa, Brayden (Terrilyn), Trent (Virginie), Spencer (Chiara) and by her great grandchildren Tykan, Lilli, Macey, Harper, Brooks and Blair. She is survived by her sister Iva (Ross deceased) Smith of Woodstock, by brother Ken (Karen) Zehr of Tavistock, sister-in-law Annie Mae (Nelson deceased) Albrecht of Tavistock, by sister-in-law Helen MacKenzie (Walter deceased) and by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents John & Clara (Kipfer) Zehr as well as brothers and sisters-in-law Anna Mae (Oscar) Leis, Marie (Mahlon) Leis, Leola (Omar) Wagler, Harold (Peg) Zehr, Lavone (John) Gascho, Lorraine (Vic) Boldt , Donald (Donna) Zehr, Edward (Jean) Zehr, and by her in-laws Joseph & Barbara (Schlegel) Zehr, her brother-in-laws Delton (Fern) and Walter, and by sister-in-law Jane.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service for Shirley & Carl at the East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th Line on Saturday November 27, 2021 at 11:00am. Attendance is limited and everyone needs to RSVP on the Glendinning Funeral Home website by going into Carl's memorial page and scrolling down under the obituary and clicking the blue RSVP button on Carl's' webpage.
