Obituary for Joseph Z. "Joe" Slusarczyk

Joe passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Woodstock Hospital on Thursday November 10, 2022 at the age of 75. Joe will be greatly missed by his wife Nancy for 53 years, sons Joe Jr (Terrie-Lynn), Jason (Merritt) and Josh (Corry). Missing his hugs will be grandsons Jake, Noah, Ryker, Eli, Jack and James. Joe will also be dearly missed by his sister Janie Zaitz (Bill), Kristi, Michael, Grace, Quinn, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbours and his well-loved close group of lifelong friends. Predeceased by his parents Joseph Sr. (Opy-1994) and Sophie (Baba-2004) and sister-in-law Bonnie MacIntosh (2019).

Joe was a proud tobacco farmer who lived most of his life on his farm in Woodbury just south of Princeton. Before his stroke in 2012, Joe could often be found driving through his fields, on his way to a tobacco meeting, playing Old Timers’ hockey or playing cards with his close friends the “Magnificent Seven”.

After 2012, Joe loved going for long golfcart rides to keep an eye on his crops, visiting the variety store to get his weekly lottery tickets or travelling to Jim’s Lunch to pick up some french fries for his grandkids.

Joe loved nothing more than to spend time with his six grandsons and they brought him great joy in his final years.

Friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday November 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Pioneer Cemetery, Burford. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Lions Way or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Keith Ovington 519-449-1112 www.keithovington.ca
