Obituary

WILLSEY; John Alvin - passed away peacefully in his 68th year at Stratford Rotary Hospice on Christmas Day with his wife Marilyn Willsey (Dale) there by his side.

John and Marilyn were married for 45 years and have 3 children, Alison Willsey (Randy Baker), April Willsey, Jonathan Willsey (Brittany Nickel) and 6 grandchildren, Gabriella Seibel, Nola Seibel, Dante Seibel, Nicole Baker, Blair Walker, and Blake Willsey. John was 1 of 8 children and is survived by his siblings Marvin (Linda) Willsey, Joyce Cottrell, Jean (Ron) Fentie, Susanne Willsey, Roy (Marilyn) Willsey, Myrna (Phil) Hamilton, Brenda (Rick) Minor. He is also survived by his Father-in-law James Dale (Pat Taylor), Sister-in-law Vicki (David) McKenna, Brother-in-laws Jeff Dale and Scott Dale (Marie Clinton). He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Edna (Charlton) Willsey, Mother-in-law Virginia (Dyson) Dale and by brothers-in-law Jim Cottrell, Ed Rossol and Chuck Evert, niece Meredith Hamilton and nephew Jason Cottrell.

John was a Dairy Farmer at Willsey Farms at R.R #1 Belmont and a Sales Representative for the Elgin County Holstein Club and moved to Tavistock in 1984. He completed an Auctioneer course and became a partner in the Tavistock Dairy Sales selling herds of cattle and consignments from nearly every province of Canada as well as many areas throughout the United States and Mexico for over 20 years. John earned his Real Estate licence in 2005 and sold rural and farm properties for 8 years. He continued to broker dairy cattle throughout this time up until a few months ago. He formed so many great relationships and friendships with people throughout the farming community that he cherished and continued to reminisce about until recent.

During his time in Tavistock, he served as a mentor to many youth as both a baseball and hockey coach as 2nd to family and farming, John had a love of sports; specifically hockey! He was most happy making memories entertaining family and friends over the years at their cottages in Grand Bend. He also enjoyed the many trips him and Marilyn were fortunate enough to make South over the years with family and friends.

A huge thank you goes out to all who attended the drive-by at the former Tavistock Dairy Sales to show support to John this past November. He was very touched.

The family appreciates beyond words the many acts of kindness and support that have been shown over the last 1 ½ years since his diagnosis and continue to give thanks for the continued support of family, friends, and the community. A big thank you to the countless medical professionals who cared for John along the way.

A private family viewing will take place with Interment in Dorchester Union Cemetery. Once provincial restrictions are lightened, then a public visitation will be announced at that time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society as well as the Ontario Arthritis Society. Personal condolences can be posted at www.gffh.ca
