WIGAND, Henry

Passed away peacefully, at the Woodstock General Hospital, on Friday, March 29, 2024, in his 92nd year.

Henry Wigand born January 1, 1933 in Kalazno, Hungary. Beloved husband to wife Margret (Krauss) for 69 years. Survived by his brother-in-law to George (Mary) Krauss. Cherished uncle to Ron (Bill), George, Annie (Brian), Bob Krauss and Robert (Becky) Wigand. Was a great-uncle, and will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by parents John and Elizabeth Wigand and brother John Jr and his wife Emma.

Henry immigrated to Canada in 1950 and eventually settled down in the Drumbo/Bright area. Henry was a proud farmer who spent many hours working the tobacco fields, growing a variety of cash crops and managing a beef cattle operation alongside his wife Margaret and his brother John, and his family.

When Henry was young, he enjoyed fancy cars, going to dances and playing pool. For 30 years, Henry enjoyed spending his winters in Florida with his wife Margret. He spent his time cultivating his orange and grapefruit trees, going to flea markets, bowling and strolling the mall every Sunday. In the last few years, he enjoyed spending time soaking up the sun on his deck.

Family and friends will be received at the Arn-Lockie Funeral Home, 45 Main Street West, Norwich, ON 519-863-3020, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M. A private family service will be held, with interment at the Ninth Line Evangelical Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Henry, may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
