Obituary for Gail Marguerite Yurcich (Sims)
Peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Brantford General Hospital on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Gail (nee Sims), of Scotland, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of George Yurcich for 64 years. Loving Mom of Susan (John) Nadwodny, Cathie Yurcich-Beda, Paul (Catherine), and Greg. Her greatest joy was being Nanny (don’t call her Grandma) to Jennifer (Fred), Meaghan (Jay), Taylor, John-Paul, Kristen (Mackenzie), Jordyn, Makenzie, Parker, and “Old Nanny” to Emery, Quentin, Kiera, and Conor. Dear sister of Pat Strohack and sister-in-law of Joan Sims. Predeceased by her brother Keith Sims and brother-in-law Pete Strohack. Gail will be sadly missed by her many family and friends, especially Mary and Sylvia

Gail loved her community in Scotland where she made her home for over 60 years. Her house was open to all who wanted to stop by for a coffee or a swim. She was a Charter Member of the Scotland Optimist Club and was instrumental in the development of the Scotland Optimist Park for many years.
Family and friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford, Ontario on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 11 – 1pm. A celebration of Gail’s life will follow at 1pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Gail’s memory may be made to the Scotland Optimist Club.
