Obituary for Frances Elizabeth "Betty" FLETCHER (Reed)

Frances Elizabeth (Betty) Fletcher 1931-2023

Betty passed away early at home January 14,2023. Mom is at peace after brief struggle post Covid. She will be missed by her friend Keith Wilkinson; her daughter Beth(Mark) Snowden; her son Douglas(Rita); her daughter Virginia Kopan; grand children Kristopher(Amanda) Lee; Katherine(Michael) Dorr; Brendan Snowden; Margret(Nicole) Fletcher; Zachary Fletcher; Timur Kopan; Melisa (Owen Kidnee) Kopan; and great grandchildren Abigail and Logan Dorr. Betty is survived by her brother Donald Reed (late Shirley).

Predeceased by her best friend and husband of 59 years Doug (2010); her daughter Gail (1997) and her parents Frances and Winnifred Reed. Aunt Betty is survived by her many Fletcher and Reed nieces and nephews.

After a courtship that began in 1947 Mom and Dad married in 1951. Mom was a successful homemaker and stay-at-home Mom until all her children in school when she went back to work initially as a bookkeeper at Fox and Neal Orchards in Ruthven and then after moving to London in 1973, she found employment with the District Trust company and began studying for a CGA designation. Once completed, she then moved on to the CSI courses required to become a Financial Advisor and Stockbroker. Mom and dad enjoyed travelling especially cruises after selling their winter home in Florida and have many albums of pictures from their trips to Europe and elsewhere.

Mom’s Christian faith was important to her. She was an active member of the Anglican Church wherever she lived from Leamington to London and Mount Brydges to finally Port Rowan. She was also an avid bridge player, gardener, quilter, knitter, painter and golfer who always was willing to participate in any activity the Red Hats of Port Rowan undertook.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service to be conducted at St. John’s Anglican Church, Port Rowan on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00am. Interment later in Bayview Cemetery, Port Rowan.
In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, donations to Ivey Eye Clinic at St Joseph’s Hospital in London or St. John Anglican Church in Port Rowan would be appreciated by the family.
