Obituary for Deborah Helen "Deb" BARRY (Woodward)

BARRY - Deborah Helen (nee Woodward) was a caring mother, grandma, sister and friend. She passed away peacefully on September 3, 2022 at the age of 67 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Deb leaves behind the children and grandchildren for whom she lived her life. She was mom to Sherri & Dave Fitch, Darryl & Mandie Propper and Darren Propper. She was fondly known as ‘Grandma Duck’ by Teagan (Ryan) & Riley, Brody & Breanne and Leland & Willow. She was a special grandma to Zay and truly loved her Sundays spent with him. Deb was daughter to Maggie Woodward and a dear big sister to David & Cathy, Edna & Neil, Alice & Ron, Clayton & Michele and Susie & Ian. She will be missed by many nieces, and nephews, her lifelong friend Denise Schroeder and her friends from Big Otter Marina. Deb also held a special place in the hearts of the Barry family.

Deb was guided in her journey by those who predeceased her; her dad, Donald ‘Bud’ Woodward and brothers Mel and Mike.

When not working (which was almost always), Deb loved spending time in the kitchen, creating comforting meals and always baking enough to serve a crowd! It would be challenging to find a person who knew her who doesn’t have a favourite dessert, from scotcharoos to apple squares to pies, brownies and tarts. Deb took great joy in feeding the masses, and making sure that everyone was taken care of. As an avid fisher and hunter, her love of the outdoors developed into a love of traveling in her later years. Always putting others needs before her own, even during this most challenging battle, Deb was taking care of others right until the end. Her fighting spirit is a true testament to her strength and Deb will forever be remembered as a warrior.

Family & friends are invited to visit the Jeffery W. Glendinning Funeral Home, Port Rowan on Wednesday, September 7, from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be conducted in the Clark Chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11am. Interment at Bayview Cemetery to follow at a later date. Personal condolences and memories can be posted at www.gffh.ca

In lieu of flowers, Deb specifically requested donations to Spectrum Gymnastics, a fully inclusive gym owned by her granddaughter, Teagan. This final wish further shows her deep love and pride for her family and continued desire to help others.
