Obituary for Bruce Charles MAIN

MAIN: Bruce Charles - passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 28, 2021 in his 81st year.

Beloved husband of Carol (née Habel) who he married July 23, 1966. Proud father of Rebecca and husband Joseph Irvine of Waterloo and Sarah of RR# 1 Plattsville. Sadly missed by his cherished grandchildren Henry & Lillias. Dear brother of Jean Brown of Plattsville and brother-in-law Gwyneth Murray of New Hamburg, Beth & husband John Bell of Woodstock and Katie Scott of Canmore, Alberta and will be remembered by his several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Roy & Irene (Thomson) Main, brothers-in-law Bill Brown, Jim Murray and Tom Scott.
Bruce graduated from the University of Guelph, Ontario Agricultural College in 1965. While at Guelph he played varsity football and hockey. After graduation, he embarked on a 47-year career at J.M. Schneiders in Kitchener where he held a variety of roles and for many years was a successful salesman for the Horizon division. He also ventured into the independent poultry farming business for a number of years.

Bruce was very active in the Plattsville community and enjoyed his many long friendships there. An avid sports fan, Bruce devoted many hours to playing and coaching hockey and baseball. He enjoyed the outdoors and the comradery of many fishing trips and other adventures.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, caregivers, family and friends who helped care for Bruce and who supported the family in allowing Bruce to fulfil his wish to live out his days at his residence. In addition, the family will be forever grateful for the care Bruce received at the Cardiac Care Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital for their help extending his life some fifteen years previously.

Relatives and friends may call at the Glendinning Funeral Home, 40 William St. N. Plattsville on Tuesday from 6-8pm and Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be conducted at Peace United Church on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 1:00pm. Interment in Chesterfield Cemetery.
