CALDWELL: Barbara Ann – formerly of Drumbo, now beautifully free of the constraints of Alzheimer’s, passed away at Spruce Lodge, Stratford on May 25, 2020.
Survived by her sons, Martin (Amber) of Princeton and Quentin (Brandy) of Kitchener; grandchildren Wyatt, Nolan, Davanee, Synnovae and Greyson; brothers Bill (Connie) Awde, Ric (JoAnne) Awde, Daryl Awde, sisters Kathy (Jim) Haskins, and Patricia Good, and sister in law Terry Awde. Predeceased by her husband Gordon Caldwell, her parents Ruby and Earl Awde and her brothers Raymond Awde and Keith Awde.
Born on June 26, 1947 in Hagersville, ON, the second of eight children, Barb was immediately immersed in outdoor rural life, a passion she would carry for the rest of her days. She could often be found outside raking leaves, shovelling snow or otherwise consuming the outdoors simply for enjoyment. An avid sewer, Barb truly enjoyed expressing her love and creativity in projects for her children and grandchildren. As an employee of Morrow’s of Drumbo for more than 40 years, Barb found satisfaction serving local customers and working closely with many cherished colleagues over the years. Engaging in acts of service was a calling for Barb. For many years being actively involved in the Innerkip United Church, the Plattsville Skating Club, Minor Hockey and a variety of other community organizations, Barb was eager to contribute where she could. Her love of music and dancing was infectious. At every opportunity she could be found on any dance floor enjoying any danceable tune from the polka to line dancing to even sharing a rock ballad with her sons on occasion. Though diminished in her later years, she still brought forth a smile and positive energy despite her challenges. She will be missed, cherished and celebrated for years to come by friends and family alike.
As cremation has already taken place, a private ceremony will be held for family and a celebration of life will take place at a later date as restrictions permit.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to The Alzheimer’s Society (cheques accepted) would be appreciated. Personal condolences may be sent at www.gffh.ca
