Mom grew up on a farm in Kent County, went to Normal School in London and began a career in teaching. She was planning to go to India as a Missionary Teacher, but this plan changed direction when she met and fell in love with our Dad , Jack Douglas. When they married July 1st , 1948 in the little church in Pardoville, Mom became a loving mother to three little girls. As our family grew to seven. our house was filled with noise, fun and the sound of Mom singing. ....even in the laundry room! When Mom sang doing dishes, our cat Nutmeg, would come to sit by her feet and sing/howl along. She loved singing in the Trinity United Church choir, led by Harold Riddolls. Along with Nora Petit and Freida Dart, they formed a trio called "Friends" ... talented and enthusiastic singers. Music and books were a great pleasure for Mom ALL her life , and it enriched us all.

Summers were spent at Long Point ....swimming, fishing, boating, roaming the beach. Mom endured some challenges at the cottage... the dreaded bats! terrifying thunderstorms, and a very memorable weekend at the cottage with her sister Helen and eleven children in a three-bedroom cottage.

In 1974, when all the children were "on their way ", Mom and Dad moved to Vancouver Island where they thoroughly enjoyed their life near the water.

Mom wrote such beautiful cards and letters . She had a wonderful gift for listening. We left our conversations with Mom feeling loved and enjoyed. We are so grateful for her ongoing love and acceptance . She was an outstanding mother , Nana and Gran -nan. who is deeply loved and missed by all.
Mom will be buried with Dad in Pardoville where their marriage began.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Glendinning Funeral Home, Plattsville
